Abstract/Summary

What is (it about) science tracking, who does it affect and how does the topic fit into the Open Science landscape? Researchers and scientists use, create and work with data, but do they want to become data themselves? While Open Science presupposes and promotes the use of open data in scientific communities, the accusation of science - or perhaps better - scientist tracking for commercial purposes is unsettling and leads to a lack of trust in (large) scientific publishers. We want to ask and discuss to what extent the issue of scientist tracking is relevant for researchers, whether - and if so, why - it is practised and what communities can do to maintain control over their data. In addition to a keynote speech on the topic, we plan to hear many voices from the open science community, including researchers, information specialists, publishers and science funders.
